Self Value - You are perfect, right now, to have your portrait taken

When it comes to your self-worth, only one opinion truly matters — your own. And even that one should be carefully evaluated; we tend to be our own harshest critics.

I believe as a photographer I can help women to see their worth and believe in themselves. The way we look and feel about ourselves can determine how we live our lives. I want to give all women the chance to come and have a make over and feel beautiful. By doing this it could be a start to loving yourself just that little bit more, and in turn help you on your self worth journey.

We’ve complied some tips from across the web that we hope can help you on your self worth journey.

  1. Be Mindful - As soon as you find yourself going down the path of self-criticism, gently note what is happening, be curious about it, and remind yourself, “These are thoughts, not facts.”

  2. Change the story - We all have our own narrative that we live, and we have to choice to change the story that we are living. Be bold try new things, meet new people, any and all of these things will help you to see the worth you have as a person and friend.

  3. Don’t compare yourself to others - Not only is this true in our lives, but as photographers we have the same issues, we need to learn not to compare ourselves to other photographers. The same goes for our every day lives, everyone is different and everyone has a different background that has shaped them into the person they are today. Comparing ourselves to others just makes us feel bad that we’re not the same as you etc etc. You are perfect just the way you are. if everyone was the same life would be very boring indeed.

  4. Exercise - Many studies have shown a correlation between exercise and higher self-esteem, as well as improved mental health. “Exercising creates empowerment both physical and mental,” says Debbie Mandel, author of Addicted to Stress. When we exercise it makes us feel so good. Even just going for a walk can make you feel better.

  5. Forgiveness - Is there someone in your life that you need to forgive? Are you blaming someone for something that is eating you up inside. Forgiveness can help your self worth in so many ways, just letting go of any words or hurt that have been said to you and forgiving the person can give such a boost to your self esteem.
